Left: Opthamology kit

Left: Nursing Uniforms

We currently have a number of historical nursing uniforms dating back to the early 1900's.

Right - Leather Medicine chest. (1900s -1930s?)

This is an anesthetic vaporizer.  This device was placed over the nose an mouth where liquid ether would vaporize from gauze inserted in the metal holder.  This was one of the earliest anesthetics masks that could be easily sterilized and provided better control than a simple handkerchief.

Left: A collection of scalpels. Note the ivory handles on the
first and second scalpels on the left. Most modern
scalpels are stainless steel for sterilization purposes,
these scalpels could date back to the 1890s.

Right: Early Electrocardiograph (ECG) machine. (Cambridge c.
1930s). This is an example of one of the first portable ECH
machines made. This machine was made for the Holy Cross
Hospital by the Cambridge Scientific Company of London
company.
