Calgary Health Region The Calgary Health Region is one of the 17 health regions established under the Regional Health Authorities Act. It serves a population of over 915,000 as well as others from outside the region who use our referral services. It is the largest health region in Alberta and one of the fastest growing, with an annual growth rate of close to 3%or 26,000 people a year. It takes nearly 15,000 Calgary Health Region staff, 100 contract providers with 4,000 staff, and 2,000 volunteers in the Calgary Health Region to provide care 365 days a year, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. The Calgary Health Region provides a broad range of health services in two delivery areas: Acute Care and Community Health.
